We have a variety of activities you can volunteer for - anything from helping at an event to becoming a Chapter Officer. To learn more, talk to a current officer or contact either the Membership or Activities officer.
Road Captains are volunteers that have ridden with the chapter for at least a year and are trained to plan and lead rides for the Chapter. Some of their duties include:
- Avoid creating hazardous situations.
- Be knowledgeable of the state laws and safe riding guidelines.
- Lead the group to its destination in a well-organized, disciplined, and safe manner.
- Provide for the safety and welfare of all individuals within the group, and any surrounding motorists or pedestrians.
Please contact the Head Road Captain and express your desire to become a Road Captain. He/she will go over the current requirements.
You must be a member of our chapter to purchase patches and merchandise. Smoky Mountain H.O.G.® patches, rockers and pins and other HOG® merchandise may be purchased at our General Meeting (2nd Saturday of the month). You may also purchase merchandise, in the clothing department, at the dealership.
To become a National H.O.G.® member, you must be a Harley® owner to receive full member benefits. If you are a passenger or family member of an active full member, you can join as an associate member. You can join by calling 1-800-CLUB-HOG or visit www.hog.com.

Most rides leave from the Harley-Davidson® of Asheville. Always check the website for changes in ride dates and times. We also send an email Blast to all chapter members each Tuesday with updated ride and event information. Most rides meet at 10:00am, with kickstands up after the pre-ride briefing.
Most rides stay within Western Carolina, but we also have overnight rides that may be out of state. Local rides can be as short as 50 miles or up to 200 miles long.
Yes. Each chapter member can bring one guest. All guests, whether riders or passengers, must sign a liability waiver to participate in Chapter rides or events. Guests riding their own bike may ride with the Chapter a maximum of three times, after which time they must join the Chapter to continue to ride with us.
Yes. Chapter members must own a Harley-Davidson®, but guests are welcome no matter what they ride. Guests riding their own bike may ride with the Chapter a maximum of three times, after which time they must join the Chapter to continue to ride with us.
Closed rides are for Chapter members and their guests only. Open rides are open to the general public.
Yes. Unless otherwise specified, overnight rides are for adults only. Family oriented overnighters will be specified as such. Please see the particular ride details for specifics.
Once you join the Chapter, you will receive a welcome email with the login information. The accounts are imported once a month or sooner. If you did not receive this email, please contact the Membership Officer and Webmaster with your request.
Your user name is the email you gave to the membership officer on your registration form.
1) Go to the chapter site, https://www.smokymountainhog.com click the "Login" text in the upper right of the site.
2) Click on "Reset Password" button
3) The window will change to ask for your username. Your user name is the email you gave to the membership officer on your registration form.
4) Enter your email address and click "Send Resend Link". If you still have problems, please contact the Membership Officer and Webmaster with your request.
